Lasagna al forno al verde
'Luh-ZAHN-yuh' is as much my favorite pasta dish as Garfield's.This richly layered flat- pasta dish swimming in sumptuous tomato sauce, bubbling with cheese and smelling like heaven has found its way to the world's topmost favorite dishes.

The origin of lasagne is traced all the way back to Greece (surprise surprise). It has been discovered that the word lasagna is derived from the Greek word 'laganon' which was one of the first known forms of pasta. The Romans overthrew the Greek and borrowed their technique of layering pasta with sauce and meat. There are also claims that this hearty pasta dish could have British origins. The modern day lasagne, however claims to have made its debut around the 14th century in Naples, Italy.
Irrespective of what history states, the Italians have, without a doubt, mastered the art of this oven-baked entrée.
The first lasagne I ever ate was this home-made lasagne (picture below) and I bet ya'll, no other lasagne I have ever eaten after that has been able to beat this recipe (I'm talking vegetarian! I only talk vegetarian!).

It definitely takes some assembling and quite a bit of effort but after the first bite, it seems like it is all just so worth it. I have made this particular recipe 5 times on various special occasions and it has never failed me.
Here is the link to the YouTube video where I learnt this recipe from. I just watched it twice the first time and after that it has been a cake-walk. Thank you 'Dishin with Di' and Happy Lasagna Day ya'll!
